Greece has a long heritage as being one
of the oldest civilisations in Europe and as such has wonderful architecture
and archaeological sites that reflect this colourful history. The
capital city of Athens remains the central historical focal point
in the country and welcomes thousands of visitors each year who flock
to its great sites that include the magnificent Parthenon. Since the
Olympic Games in 2004 the city of Athens has been transformed with
an improved infrastructure which has significantly improved public
transport in the city. Away from the historical sites, the narrow
streets of the city are teeming with trendy bars and traditional cafes
that serve traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Away from the mainland,
Greece has over one thousand islands which are the main destination
for most holidaymakers. The main islands of Kos, Rhodes, Crete and
Corfu all have wonderful sandy beaches and are extremely welcoming
to British holidaymakers. With good connections between these islands
you should not miss to opportunity to do some island hopping whether
by boat or by plane – you’re guaranteed to see some of
the most spectacular views of this area of the world. |
