Designed and built to the highest standards, the house combines modern facilities with traditional architecture. With 3 large double bedrooms (one on the ground floor), a large garden and ideal location (only a 15 minute stroll from Stoupa and 3 wonderful sandy beaches). The house is now available for "paying guests" and offers the ideal home away for families and friends who want to explore the Mani countryside or just relax in the sun. It is designed to be accessible for disabled people.
The house is designed and built in a way that captures the best of the traditional architecture of the Outer Mani region. The walls were built from a double layer of local stone providing excellent insulation and creating an impression of timeless elegance. The natural reds and yellows in the stone capture and reflect all the warm colours of the sun, especially at sun set. The stone has been left deliberately bare in the main room with small earthenware features setting off the natural beauty of the stone. The main room has a high ceiling all the way up to the roof and two small windows set high up so that air circulates to provide natural air conditioning. The mezzanine area in the main room providing a generous double bedroom is a feature of Mani architecture. All the furniture has been hand-made by the local carpenter who also made the stairs and internal doors. The door ways and window sills are made from marble, and the downstairs floors made from Aegean tiles with a traditional Greek pattern as a feature around the doorways.
At the same time, the house has all the facilities you would expect from a modern building with built in, well equipped kitchen, bathrooms with toilet up and down stairs, shutters, mosquito nets and double glazing on every window and door. A small basement area houses the washing machine and garden furniture.

"Kalo Riziko" is Greek for good roots, and is a traditional blessing for those buying or building a new home. We hope that you will want to come and stay at our beautiful house and make it your “home away”. Maybe like us, you will end up owning your own stone built house and put down good roots in the Mani (visit this site for details of real estate deals in the area).This house is available for rent throughout the year (see the availability page for details). In June, July, August and September we ask for £630 (935euros) per week. Outside the main season we ask for just £490 (735euros) per week.We want to encourage people to stay and get to know the area, so if you choose to stay for a third week, we would only charge half the weekly rent for your third week.
This price includes the welcome pack and use of all facilities and linen. Maid service during your stay is additional but can be arranged.

The house is less than 1 mile from 3 sandy beaches, and a short drive from many more.
Stoupa beach stretches around a wide bay. There are beds and umbrellas for hire, but otherwise the only shade is in the tavernas and bars all along the sea front. The sea is warm enough to swim comfortably from March to November. In August, it can be busy.
A few minutes walk south of the main beach, there is a little beach opposite some sea food tavernas. This beach is narrower and not commercialised.
Kalogria beach is featured in all the tour operator brochures. It has gently shelving fine sand ideal for young families, and is fringed with tamarisk trees, tavernas and trendy bars for those who want some shade. The bars are ideal for the young at heart who wish to show off their tan, their taste in upbeat music or their backgammon skill. The sea is cooled by natural springs of mountain water, but therefore can be bracing in April and October. There are pedaloes and kayaks for hire, as well as beds and umbrellas. There is quite often a game of volley ball on the beach and several aggressive versions of bat’n’ball for those who enjoy such things.

The doorway beside the bathroom leads into a large downstairs bedroom with twin beds and own patio. The stair case in the main room leads up to the large mezzanine bedroom with twin beds. The principle bedroom has en-suite facilities plus balcony.

The front door leads into a generous living and dining area with large fireplace and open plan fitted kitchen. Two glass doors lead out onto the first of two patio areas with plenty of space for sitting and eating out.
