La Platriere is situated in the department of Allier in the region of Auvergne, the heart of France

The region boasts of an exceptional variety of lakes, waterfalls and the river Allier

The cottage offers spacious luxury accommodation and sleeps up to 6 people. Although it adjoins the main house it has its own private garden and parking space. Bed linen and towells are provided and included in the price and for those cooler months the gite is well insulated and centrally heated. The modern kitchen with dining area is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, electric oven, hob and extractor hood. The dining area has French doors leading out into the private garden and outdoor furniture and barbeque. Back inside open plan beams lead the way into one of the two sitting rooms where for your entertainment are TV, video, music centre, a selection of books and games. One of the sitting rooms has a good quality bed-settee - therfore providing the option of a third bedroom. Also downstairs is the bathroom, with hip-bath, shower, and basin with vanity unit. The toilet is separate.A beautiful open-tread oak staircase leads upstairs where there are 2 adjoining bedrooms (one double, one twin-bedded). Both bedrooms have exposed beams and dormer windows look out across the garden to the countryside beyond.

Guests can of course use all the facilities at La Platriere which has 3 acres of garden. The adjoining land is farmland (with horses and the regional Charolais cattle) with views of rolling hills in the distance. The property has fencing or hedging all around and entry to the house is via a gated driveway. The garden is host to plenty of wildlife, such as abundance of butterflies and birds (some rare such as the Hoopae) and birds of prey can often be seen as they appear to glide through the air carried on the thermal waves. As well as plenty of shrubs, flowers, and trees, La Platriere has an orchard, (cherry, plum, greengage, apples, pears) fruit garden and a small vegetable plot. We have a large swimming pool (10x5 metres plus roman escalier) with sun-terraces which all guests at La Platriere can enjoy. A summer kitchen and covered dining terrace near the pool are planned for 2006. We also have a petanque pitch (boules provided; badminton equipment, and childrens play area (swings, basketball etc) which our guests are welcome to use. Also outside there is a large terrace and barbeque where guests joining us for evening meal can enjoy the magnificent view of the countryside. And as the sun sets you can enjoy an unpolluted view of the stars and the Milky Way
