The Suffolk - East Anglia region

The Suffolk Heritage Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Thorpeness was created in the early 1900's by local landowner Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie as a resort for wealthy Edwardian Holidaymakers. The village has its own Golf Course, Tennis Club, Inn, Cafe and large man-made lake 'The Meare' where boats can be hired.
The nearby town of Aldeburgh has a good range of shops and restaurants and is only about 2 miles away.
Nearby attractions include RSPB MInsmere, The National Trust Reserve at Dunwich Heath, Orford Ness Nature Reserve, and the internationally renowned Snape Concert Hall.
