The Ogliastra - Sardinia region
The Marina of Tertenia is a peaceful, picturesque seaside resort, which offers everything you may require during that much needed holiday, without being noisy and overcrowded. There are two main fabulous white sandy beaches ,with a crystal clear sea to bathe in. There are also many rocky coves, ideal for snorkelling or fishing , all overlooked by the vast mountainous scenery. From here you can explore by hired quad bike, on horseback, or follow one of the many hiking paths, alone, or with a tour guide(recommended, as there is much to explore!) There are tourists shops and supermarkets in the Marina, though a trip to the village of Tertenia is recommended for more of a choice of local wines, meats and cheeses. There is a selection of bars and restaurants in the marina ranging from pizza takeaway , beach bar, open air music bar, and restaurants for that special night out. There is also a weekly market in the Marina, offering fresh fruit and veg, fresh fishes and cheeses, and many other stalls where you may find that special souvenir The village of Tertenia is situated at around 10km away from the Marina of Tertenia. Here you will find a wide range of shops, supermarkets and bars, a bank, post office, a doctors surgery for tourists, the village church, a gelateria, the cheese factory, where you can purchase the local cheeses direct, and a bus route linking to all the other towns, villages and cities in the Ogliastra region .In the month of August, the locals organise a festa, to demonstrate how they lived and worked more than 100 years ago. There is a chance to try local dishes, cheeses and wines. This event is very popular with the tourists, and the locals.
